Administrative hearing files, 1980-[ongoing].

The Department of Agriculture and Industries regulates the activities of certain businesses such as food products manufacturers, petroleum products dealers, and livestock dealers. The commissioner is empowered to hold hearings to hear complaints against a regulated entity brought by a division of the department or by consumers. The commissioner presides over the hearing and the department's legal counsel participates. If a regulated entity is judged guilty of wrongdoing, the normal punishment is license revocation and/or a civil fine. The decision of the commissioner can be appealed to the Board of Agriculture and Industries. These files include a copy of the notice of hearing, a transcript of the hearing, evidence presented, and final order (decision) of the commissioner.
